Come one, Come all!
After years of hard work, we are proud and excited to announce that on the 28th of October, the Eco-Training Center at Eco-Village Moldova will have its official grand opening! Come to see Eco-Village Moldova and the new Eco-Training Center.
Even when we first started constructing Eco-Village Moldova; even when it was all still a distant dream in our heads, we had always imagined that it would be a place where we would live, play, work, and learn. Although the Mushroom and the workshops our first buildings here, they were unable to reliably serve as our training centers. With the addition of our Eco-Training Center, we now have a dedicated building for trainings and seminars!
The Eco-Training Center’s main feature is its main hall/cafeteria where sessions are held and meals are had. In the back is the kitchen, where we cook up amazing vegetarian dishes for our participants!
On the second floor, we have our terrace that leads into two rooms and two bathrooms for our guests.
The Construction
We started building the Eco-Training Center (ETC) in 2016. Built from reed, wood, straw, and clay, the Eco-Training Center, like the other buildings at Eco-Village Moldova, is a shining example of eco-construction principles. The green roof on part of the ETC serves to absorb rainwater, provide insulation, and increase the overall aesthetic of the area. Installed on the roof of the ETC are four solar water-heating panels and eleven photovoltaic cells that provide us with electricity and heating for our water.
The construction of the ETC, and frankly, the entire Eco-Village Moldova, could not have been done without the help of our amazing community in Riscova. Not only was the construction done by our friends and neighbors here in the village, but the majority of the materials used in construction was also locally-sourced from the village and the surrounding area.
The Support
In addition to our fantastic community who helped build the Eco-Training Center, we also had a large number of volunteers who helped us not only in the building, but also the design of the building.
The entire building itself was about 140,000 euros, and our main contributors were from the Liechtenstein Development Service and from crowd investing. Below is a graphic of the contribution from our many partners, sponsors, and donors.
